Anhinga~ Anhinga anhinga
This species is found in the southern United States and South America around tropical, freshwater pools.  Underwater swimming is made effortless due to the Anhinga's less buoyant feather structure.  However, after 20-30 minutes of swimming, this bird must perch itself out to dry with wings spread out.  The bird depicted was photographed by me in Savannah, GA one early spring morning.  It favored this branch the night before to dry out as well!
