Eastern Bluebird~ Sialia sialis
One of America's most beloved birds, the Eastern Bluebird can be found throughout eastern North America.  As a member of the thrush family, it's closest relatives include the American Robin and Wood Thrush, among others.  Eastern Bluebirds are easily attracted to open meadows, old fields, and golf courses.  The best way to attract these blue beauties is to set up a nestbox facing an open field and provide plenty of mealworms (and/or suet!)  My original reference photograph was taken this past spring, as our male Bluebird grabbed a quick bite to eat from a suet feeder.  We have had success every year with our nesting Bluebirds by providing plenty of food, water, and of course nestboxes.
