Boat-Tailed Grackle~ Quiscalus major
Found along coasts of the Southeastern United States. Similar to the Common Grackles found elsewhere, boat-taileds have a very narrow, elegant body and long, beautiful tails. They are scavengers and can be found in busy urban areas foraging through trash from people. The male depicted here was photographed, along with his enormous flock of at least 200, at none other than a McDonald's parking lot near Naples, FL...begging for french fries (that we DID NOT give him!)
