Grey-Crowned Crane ~ Balearica regulorum
Found in Africa, this bird was placed on the IUCN's endangered list in 2012. One of the most notable characteristics of this species is the stiff, golden crown of feathers.  The main threats to this species are due to those imposed by humans on it's habitat. We took this photo at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this past summer, 2017.  A very magical bird to see in-person!
