Kirtland's Warbler~ Setophaga kirtlandii
De-listed from Endangered Species List in 2019!! One of the rarest songbirds in North America, this large warbler breeds almost exclusively in Michigan's lower peninsula among juvenile Jack Pine trees. The Kirtland's Warbler was one of the first species to be placed on the endangered species list in 1973, and has made a good recovery due to various conservation efforts on it's breeding grounds. Named after the Ohio doctor and naturalist, Dr. Jared Potter Kirtland.
