Carolina Chickadee~ Poecile carolinensis

Found in the southeast United States, the Carolina Chickadee is very similar to its widespread northern cousin, the Black-Capped Chickadee.  Where these two species meet regionally, they often inter-breed, and sometimes learn each other's songs.  Similar to cavity nesting woodpeckers, Carolina Chickadees can also excavate their own nest holes in soft wood and will readily take to a nest box.
