April Garden Wrap-Up
Things have been crazy busy around here the last half of this month. I’ve had multiple projects going on at the same time, and am finally attempting to finish all of them by the first of May. In the middle of all this is peak Warbler migration for Gwinnett county. Luckily, we were able to get out to a local park (McDaniel Farm Park) this past week and add a few warblers to our life list (Blackpoll and Prairie at least).
A trip to Home Depot today allowed us to put the finishing touches on our backyard garden. The nights have been so unseasonably cold that it’s been difficult to get anything established in the ground. Our last round of seeds will, once again, start in pots inside. In addition to our Moonflowers, Sunflowers, and Morning glories (among others), today we added California Poppy, Echinacea, and some other really pretty red and yellow flower with the nickname “goblin,” I cant remember the spelling of the flower species name. Anyway, our backyard should look amazing in a few months!
Last year, the moonflowers and morning glories took over our back fence, making it look like a wall of leaves and flowers! (See first photo of blog. This lovely WIX blog on the app is being irritating and refusing to post photos where I tell it to).
As summer approaches and flowers begin blooming, keep a lookout for more updates!
My next blog on May 1st will reveal the Bird of the Month for May!
